
Medan – North Sumatra government has set a target to attract 500.000 foreign tourists this year. The governor Edy Rahmayadi is optimistic about the target, despite 2018 tourist visit decline 14,25% compared with the previous year (2017).
“In order to reach the target, we need supports to manage attractive tourism events, promotions and good news about this province,” Governor said Thursday (28 February), as he welcomed North Sumatra cultural festival on March 19th to 24th by the provincial Arts Council.
He added, the government will put efforts include marketing programs and scheduled tourism events.
About 270.792 foreign tourists visited North Sumatra on 2017, according to the province’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The number declined on 2018, as the province only welcomed 231.465 foreign visitors.
